Feb 26, 2013 Waterproof Phone Case Review Today I am going to review one of the waterproof phone case products that we sell on our website at Phone Cases NZ. Our objective is to Take your Phone Anywhere! - Taking it to the beach and in the water is probably a great example. Now I realise some of you may think this is a crazy idea, why would I want to take my phone in the water? Well, there are great reasons as to why you would do this, including this short video. If you are into activities such as kayaking, canoeing, sailing or surfing, wouldn't it be awesome to capture photos of the experience? I reckon this would be a great pick up for travelling and adventure holidays. If you are one of the many many people who take your phone to the beach, to a swimming pool, or on a boat or just near water, wouldn't it bring piece of mind knowing that your phone is safely protected in a waterproof case so that if the worst happens, i.e. you drop it or it does somehow get wet - its protected! Actually.. if you have this case you probably won't drop it as it'll be dangling from your chest. Think of all of the geography lessons and outdoors classes the kids do at school. What kid doesn't have a phone now? As a parent you know they'll probably drop them in the water at some point - so be prepared! Ok, so on to the waterproof case itself. The waterproof case is constructed of yellow PVC plastic that has a big transparent window on both the front and back. This is a great feature as it means pretty much whatever phone you have, you can use both the touch screen and easily record videos and take photos out of the back of the case. The fact that its yellow makes it really visible and easy to find if you're like me and always misplacing things. Who needs the Find my iPhone app now? The waterproof case has the following dimensions: Total Size = 175mm x 95mm. Yellow Waterproof Bag = 140mm x 95mm This is quite a big case and in the photos above you can see that a Samsung Galaxy S3 Phone fits in it. It will fit the majority of today's smart phones including the iPhone 4 and iPhone 5. Be aware however that it is not big enough to fit the likes of a giant phone such as a Samsung Galaxy Note. The Galaxy S3 is probably the biggest phone that you would want to fit in this case. This case is regarded as the "lite" option as it doesn't have all of the features of its bigger brother - the waterproof phone case advanced. This case provides you with a good waterproof capability up to a depth of 3 meters. At the same time it gives you a neck lanyard so that you can easily carry the case around your neck. If you would prefer an armband or the ability to listen to music in the water, then again you would need to check out the advanced waterproof case. So does the case actually work? Will it really waterproof my phone? Yes - it really does protect your phone from water. I have used the same case over the past 5 weekends in the SEA at various beautiful beaches around Auckland. Here is a photo of the lifeguard station taken in the sea at Orewa beach I've used plenty of waterproof cases in the past. Unlike a lot of cheap waterproof cases out there that use a velcro strip, this case has an easy, but solid and secure locking mechanism. It creates a seal between the 2 sides of the plastic and it locks them tight. Is a plastic hard case a better choice? There are many different types of waterproof phone cases out there. Some cases work extremely well whereas others simply don't. It all depends on your budget and what you're after. One thing to be aware of are the plastic hard cases that you see online. They are waterproof - however they generally do not let you operate the screen in the water! So it really is a case of what you're after. The case reviewed here really is a great waterproof case. To finish, here are a couple of further photos I have taken using my Huawei G300 Android phone and this waterproof case. If you still don't have faith, well go look at the videos on the Phone Cases NZ youtube channel and you'll see!
